Fall 2009
I am continuing to teach an ongoing Theater Games & Improv Workshop at "Chops Teen Center" in Santa Rosa.
I have wrapped up a summer full of teaching at the Excel Program at SSU, Education Unlimited at UC Berkeley and the Writers, Directors and Actors Workout at SF Digi Film School, and I'm gearing up for another 2 classes there teaching Film Acting 3 and Writers, Directors and Actors Workout.
The SF Digifilm School likes this class, so
they've asked me to do another 8 weeks!! WRITERS, DIRECTORS & ACTORS’
WORKOUT: An intensive yet fun workshop involving three filmmaking disciplines,
writing, directing and acting, that will encourage a crossover of teamwork,
networking, and the creative process.
Actors (intermediate to advanced level)
will work with film directors and writers on camera.
Directors (all levels)
will learn more about the acting process, develop the terms that actors
understand in order to deliver their best performances on a film-set.
Writers
(all levels) can bring in their pre-existing scripts and those in development
to hear their words come to life by the Actors’ performance in class. This will
help them develop their scripts further.
Directors and Writers will also have
the opportunity to act, to understand better what it feels like
being on camera. By working with the concepts and techniques of improvisation,
action choices, beats, scene arcs and colors, all participating Actors,
Directors and Writers will see their characters and stories come to life on
camera.
All class-work will be videotaped and the writers & directors will
retain a copy of it for their own records and further viewing.
Start date:
April 1, 2009
Class time: Wednesdays, 6:30 - 9:30pm (8 weeks)
Instructor:
Jeffrey Weissman
Prerequisite: Instructor's approval
Tuition: $240

July 2008
July is proving to be a busy month! I'll be teaching the classes below:
Intermediate Film Acting Technique and Acting Essentials classes at the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking
A three week acting intensive for California Education Services on the U.C. Berkeley campus for the month of July.
MASTERING THE CAMERA for TEENS & ADULTS!
The course will cover audition technique, cold reading, how to make active choices that support the material, improvisation, character development, script and scene breakdowns, on-set protocol, and more.
Students will participate in video-recorded "simulated casting sessions" where they will learn hands on how to adapt to the mediums of film and television. We'll cover learning how to "keep your cool" in the high-pressure environment of a movie set, as well as the all--important task of marketing oneself. Students learn how to put their "team" together for a successful career in the business.
Students will focus on script and scene breakdowns (into beats), character development, doing "business", finding the "arc" in the script and bringing their own traits and insights to bring the script's character to life.
Jeffrey uses theater games, professional script sides, improv, and the language of a film set to quickly move his students to advanced work. He focuses on what works for you to get the job. Each student is guaranteed time to concentrate on advancing his or her abilities.
DATES: 4 Consecutive Weeks: July 15, 22, and Aug 5, 12,
LOCATION: Santa Rosa
